Middle school students vote for Bush

At Chaparral Middle school in Alamogordo a mock election took place a few days ago where my 6th grade daughter took part of among 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Alamogordo being a town of 30,000 and home of nearby Holloman AFB 117A stealth fighter planes, it's not surprising to see so many Bush/Cheney signs all over the place with a few spotty Kerry/Edwards signs standing meekly next to large B/C signs. I figured we have a 3:1 ratio with no less than 2:1 with Republicans being the majority. Alamogordo is lucky enough to have President Bush visit the town for the second time coming this Sunday for a Bush rally. The first President's visit took place two years ago.

Alamogordo is also home of Joseph Hudson, former prisoner of war, one of six members of Fort Bliss’ 507th Maintenance Company who were captured by Iraqi forces on March 23, 2003, and whose face was shown worldwide on television. No wonder this town is heavily Republican.

The results of the Chaparral Middle school's mock election netted a George W. Bush win.

George W. Bush..........345 votes.
John F. Kerry..............195 votes.
Ralph Nader.....................3 votes.

Nearly a 2 to 1 margin for Bush win. Let's see if the National election will produce the same result this November 2, 2004.
