Checking the Iraq the Model website in the October 22, 2004 blog section under the title, "Clerics Endorse Democracy", had Ahmed Al Safi, a senior aide of Ayatollah Sistani who made his announcement that "Those who don’t participate in the elections will end up in hell” and he added in his speech that “we must bear the responsibility and we must all participate in the elections because it’s a patriotic duty and not doing so is like treason”. I like that part. If you don't vote, it's like treason and and a very unpatriotic one. Of course, not doing so will earn you a ticket to Hell, according to Clerics, after you've lived a full life. Sort of like Catholic parents warning you during your adolescent years not to play with yourself else you go to Hell.
Now, P. Diddy has his own brand of the "Choose or Lose" slogan using an unnerving slogan that you better vote or you will dieeeee! Sort of a Saddam-esque way of encouraging voters to participate in an election process that earned him 100% of all of the votes. Those Iraqis would be nuts not to vote. Voting for Saddam would be much more preferable than getting shot in the head. But that wasn't the intention of P. Diddy's slogan, although the slogan certainly does raise some nasty images of how you could die if you didn't vote. But these are impressionable adults we're talking about. Even Hillary got into the groove with P. Diddy "Vote or Die" campaign when she made use of her own brand of Liberal soundbites in support of Diddy's "Vote or Die" one liner ditty:
"Hey, do I want to wake up in five years and have more violence in the streets than we do now, more homelessness, more people out of work? Kids not even having a chance to get educated, hospitals closing down?" This is a direct impact on their lives and I believe your slogan, "vote or die," is accurate.
Now, she's being prophetic. But, then again her own prophecy could be said true if you vote for Kerry and the results would be more homelessness, people out of work, more uneducated kids, and more people dying. But Hillary wasn't talking about "dying" but a "direct impact on their lives". But with Kerry, you'd die as a result of a nuclear explosion from a bomb snuck into the United States by terrorists, chemical attacks, dirty bombs, and the likes. This would be conceivable since Kerry insist on waging a more "sensitive war" against terrorism in the first place. The "Vote or Die" is much more aligned with the possibility of that happening if you do vote for Kerry since Kerry would rather wait until a terrorist attack takes place inside the United States. And when that happens "any attack will be met with a swift and certain response" by none other than Kerry.
So, either you "Vote or Die" or "Vote or go to Hell". Talk about being in a rock and a hard place.
