In a time of vicious protests over Mohammed cartoons, it's time to extend our hands and prayers to the victims and families of the recent ferry tragedy where
most of the 1400 passengers may be feared dead or missing.
SAFAGA, Egypt - An Egyptian passenger ferry carrying nearly 1,400 people sank in the Red Sea early Friday during bad weather, and rescue ships and helicopters
pulled dozens of survivors and bodies from the water. At least 263 escaped on lifeboats, the transport minister said.
Most of the passengers were Egyptian workers returning from their jobs in Saudi Arabia. At least four Saudi and four Egyptian ships were involved in the search effort, arriving about 10 hours after the 35-year-old ferry was believed to have sunk.
Just because they are Muslims, we are not and should not be in a position to gloat over the deaths of innocent Muslims of the ferry disaster because of what
has happened in the past few days. We should instead offer our prayers and hopes that many will be found alive and safe from harm. Righteousness gloating over innocent deaths is a disgusting form of display.
We're much better than that.
the Egyptian ferry, I just wanted to mention that on behalf of the American people, the President extends our deepest condolences to all Egyptians and citizens of other nations who -- other nations that suffered losses. We have offered assistance to help with the rescue attempts. And our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all those who lost loved ones.
Freedom of speech is one thing but it doesn't mean it is about hatred against others whenever people express their opinions even to the distaste of others on paper or voice. Freedom of speech is way where one can express his or her opinions and beliefs but nobody should get murdered over them.
