Vinton Cerf as some of you may know is the "Father of the Internet." He is also deaf. But here is probably a little known fact among those in the Deaf community. Vinton Cerf was awarded the Alexander Graham Bell Medal for his contribution on the internet. AGBell recognized Vinton Cerf's extra-ordinary contribution in helping build the first ever internet. The real surprise is that this medal award took place 13 years ago. Maybe it's time that the Deaf community demand that Vinton Cerf return his AGBell medal back to AGBell? And if Vinton Cerf refuses to return his medal back to AGBell then perhaps the Deaf community ought to stage a boycott against using the internet as a show of solidiarity hoping that Vinton Cerf will cave into their demands?
Yeah, I bet you wouldn't.
(correction: changed "Vincent" to "Vinton" which is his correct first name).

Yep. A bunch of hypocrites. Why not attack Cerf for not giving up his AGBell medal award after 13 years? Bunch of wimps, emotional cry babies. I dare those Deaf extremists to challenge Cerf to give up his medal!
I DARE YA!
good Lord - Cerf is an unusually accomplished fellow. The list of his awards and achievements is amazing! The linked page about him doesn't even mention that he is deaf. Guess that didn't hold him back at all. He is exclusively oral, right? I would love to meet him some day. Wonder if I could convince him to come to my school and talk about his life.
Anby idea how old Cerf is?
Vinton Gray "Vint" Cerf ( /ˈsɜrf/; born June 23, 1943) is an American computer scientist who is the "person most often called the father of the Internet.

So...Al Gore didn't invent the Internets?
:-)
Hahaha, very funny, JJ!

"...time that the Deaf community demand that Vincent Cert return his IEEE AGBell medal back to AGBell?"
Noticed that there was no response to this question. A nonissue. Tried to stir the pot, did you? What did it get you?
Note the hypocrisy? No way will they touch Vincent Cerf even if AGBell award him some more medals or other recognition and he accepts them. It'd be an utter disaster. Just imagine it. By the way, got word that he supports AB2072.

IEEE is the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a professional group that has no affiliation to the AG Bell Association for the Deaf at all. It publishes some nice Electical Engineering magazines and has SIGs (Special Interest Groups) in various sub-disciplines of Electrical Engineering, such as graphics and VLSI... The Internet definitely comes under the sort of Engineering accomplishments it is set up to honor!
The IEEE probably just named the award after a guy, who, after all, is a pretty famous engineer, and Vincent Cerf happened to receive this ill-named, but well-intentioned award...
I say let him keep the award, and if you want to complain about anything, talk to the IEEE about renaming its honor for somebody you believe to be more honorable.

Thanks for the correction. It is "Vinton" and not "Vincent."
Regardless of his name the idea is that anything related to AGBell many people use that as an excuse to protest. But since Vinton was awarded the AGBell award 13 years ago, no outcry from the Deaf community to boycott against Vinton? Not only is that hypocrisy, it's selective dishonesty.
This has to be the dorkiest way to dis a Deaf person ever seen. The writer should be sent back to kindergarten to learn manners, and to also learn respect for others who don't agree with his dogma.
Anon, who and what are you talking about?
