My Plan is Working Flawlessly! *rubs hands*

Here's a little video message to some people in the Deaf community and how their paranoia shows everytime they use my "famous quote" thinking its real. Some of you gotten to the point of surreal daftyness thinking my goal is to "destroy" or "hurt" the Deaf community. *laughs* And I'm signing in ASL, too. My advice? Leave your paranoia and conspiracy theories at home. You'll sleep better that way.

So maybe you plan to help your local Deaf Community sometime soon?

Here's an idea... Build something larger than yourself instead of tearing down any leader who pops up, or quoting yourself quoting yourself ad nauseum.

Checking back, we can all see that first use of both the "conspiracy" and the "paranoia" BS was yours.

Your turn to go positive rather than negative. Can you even conceive of how to do something like that?

I'm selective in what I do when it comes to contribution. I don't focus on just one subgroup but rather I focus on the whole community of deaf and hh, whether they know sign language or not. Like I said before, I move between many fences.

I'm not the one who suggested or implied that I'm out to "hurt" or "destroy" the Deaf community. Hence, the person who earns that "paranoia" and "conspiracy" mantle are the ones who say that. They rightfully earned that designation.

You don't have to read my blog if you don't like how I write. Nobody forced you or anybody else to read my blogs. Either you can try and summon up your will power and just refuse to read or visit my blogsite the next time. Other than that have a nice day.

Hahaha

Like they really believe you're out to destroy the deaf community?

Pure paranoia at best.

If people do not ask hard and honest questions about a community, it's probably cuz they don't give a hoot.

Ha, Ha, Ha! Hilarious!

Voldemort absolutely would love to see this!

Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you

for bringing the 3F's Funny, Feisty and Fond memories at Paotie's!

We sure miss many, many fantastic satires at Paotie's. Writing on satires is tough. You know many people would not understand how the satire works. I felt like that I am very lucky person who understands the satires.

Here, Mike...

Do something positive HERE...

You DO spend a significant fraction of your time contributing right here, do you not?

Gloating over R's misfortune? Not positive.

Exaggerating the "damage" on Deafread as though it were somehow caused by the individual's status in Deaf Community? Not positive.

You say that I don't have to read your blog. But if I DON'T read your blog, how can I correct your repeated gross misstatements of fact?

Stop hiding your light under a bushel basket! Show us what a positive, contributing member of the community you can be!

WG,

Well, yeah, still I think my Monopoly money blog satire was the best one yet. Too bad it took a video for me to do and explain to those who actually believed that money took place in the fake donation effort to the "Deafhood? No Thanks" group.

Mike said...

anony 123, no gloating. In fact I said a few days ago in my blog "Just hope he will come out for the better, unharmed and humbled by all this experience." And also in my video about the whole affair as well explaining I take no joy in the fact that he's jailed other than it's "karma."

So, don't divert the issue here and do the red herring bit here.

Never once did I discuss the amount of damage. I asked questions whether those events have hurt the image of the Deaf community. Nice twisting of words and thoughts there.

Gross mistatements of facts? You're the one who said that I exaggerated the damage. No where have I said that. I asked the questions about whether the Deaf community's image has been hurt doesn't even come close to saying that. I've gotten replies where people said, "No" while others said, "Yes." And some in between.

Keep twisting.....your paranoia is showing.

From Karma's a Bitch:

"a recent jailing of he-shall-not-be-named.."

"Although his mugshot... [points to mugshot] ...doesn't inspire much confidence"

"I'm indifferent... but..."

Followed by pointing Deafread at your blogs luridly titled:

"Image of the Deaf community - tainted?"

(numerous quotes - Do I need to post them?)

and

"A psychological conundrum"

(numerous quotes - Do I need to post them?)

as well as this, your current effort at making the world a better place?

Do I need to go through each sentence's glee-then-disclaimer? Each occurrence of

Just LOOK at him/them! See! See! You can't find the mugshot? LOOK!!! RIGHT HERE!!! But I'm not a bad guy. If he/they had just listened to brilliant Mike back when I FIRST told him he was an asshole... Wonder why he didn't listen?

Oh, almost forgot, time to kick my current brilliant thoughts off to Deafread in case anybody might be looking for news about progress in the Deaf Community!

After all, it's not like Deafread has any better purpose than sarcasm and head games, right?

How do you ACTUALLY make things any better at all when you're doing so much at-best-sarcastic/at-worst-intentionally-what-it-looks-like stuff like what we've seen you do with these last 3 blogs?

Wow... what an effort to twist words in here and put them into my mouth. Vain it may be.

You...are....definitely paranoid peppered with conspiratorial thinking.

No wonder you don't want to reveal yourself.

Actually, I believe Cam is very mistaken.

I have to make a comment disclaimer here, I am not into all this glee whether it's that TV show or whether anyone is in jail. So, I'm quite turned off by some of the comments that seem to be happy that he's getting out May 2011. I wouldn't want it on anyone. I acknowledge some people belong behind bars, but what bothers me is this glee. ugh. Cam should have double checked, I did. I stand by what I found out, it is not his release date.

I agree with you. I felt that we need to have some spaces to discuss many issues when we agree or disagree in a respectful manner, without using "machine gunning." Let's pray that R. changes his behavior and attitude when he releases from the custody.

Don G. said...

Mike -- You say we're being paranoid and engaging in "conspiracy theories" when it's all a big joke to you? And you wonder why we react so strongly to your "asking hard questions"?

The problem with you is that you have shown no love or respect for our community and culture. Instead, you treat us with derision and condescension. If you had ever shown a positive viewpoint on ANYTHING we care about (and I'm not talking about some select individuals, but the COMMUNITY), we probably would be engaging in a good, healthy dialogue. But your continual negativity indicates to us that you are NOT truly interested in such a dialogue.

Instead, you have shown a mean streak a half-mile wide (I won't give you a full mile, because that's reserved for another of your cronies, who truly deserves not to be named, who has actively sought the destruction of our community and unity). Why do I say "mean streak"? Just look at your obsession over my lack of care in reading your "monopoly" blog. Instead of realizing that maybe I am human and did not read carefully all the way through, (and I DID leave you a comment to that regard, but you chose to delete it) you have instead chosen to continue to mock me at every turn with that. I, on the other hand, chose to ignore you, because ultimately, it is really a minor mistake on my part, but that mean streak of yours attempted to blow it up into an indictment of my intelligence and whatever else you decided to do with it. If you did not have a mean streak, you would have had your fun and left it alone. You did not.

This is exactly what you have done with the Deaf community. You have continually played games with us, mocking us, taunting us. When you do that to a dog, it will bite. We are fed up with you, and we are biting.

So don't play your "I don't understand why you people are picking on me! I'm so innocent!" song. We ain't buying it.

I fully expect you not to publish this. You have shown your true colors, and they are the colors of a bully and a coward!

*whoosh* your point went right over Anonymous 123's head. I guess this commentor didn't think your remarks applied to him/her specifically. thanks for the good laugh today, though!

people like "Voldemort" are like the National Enquirer of the deaf community. he takes pleasure (schadenfrude, it's called) in exposing others' flaws and misfortunes, and in a malicious and hurtful way. now he's getting a taste of his own medicine, being the subject of gossip, innuendo, and speculation. I guess Anonymous 123 thinks "Voldemort" is a positive role model to the deaf community???

Mike McConnell has showcased many, many outstanding d/hh people in his blogs over the years. Jason Curry, Mike Hamill, Greg Gunderson, and Ashley Fiolek come to mind.

keep up the good work, Mike!

Mike,

Since you say you are selective when it comes to contribution, allow me to plant a seed on what your next blog posting should be about.

In reading all the blog postings over the past few days about Ridor, i noticed that, unless I overlooked it, that no one brought up this point. Now let me be clear that I have never agreed with his blogging or vloggng tactics nor do I support it. But as a deaf person wanting to support another deaf person strictly when it comes to effective communication access, I do have to wonder if he has been provided with an interpreter throughout this process and does he have an interpreter in jail when its needed?

if he did the crime, he should do the time, no doubt about that, but access to effective communication access should never be taken away from him regardless. I have heard way too many stories about lack of interpreters or other forms of effective communication access in police stations, courtrooms and jails/prisons.

We all should be united, regardless whether we like Ridor or not, we all should be united and stand up for our rights to effective communication access in any part of the judicial process. It is really bad all over the country and is something all of us deaf and hard of hearing people should be united on.

Would this be worthy enough of your selection process when it comes to contribution?

One problem, DonG. I do know why they are picking on me. The reasons are many. That isn't lost on me. I won't belabor on exactly what those are but we can guess why. The same guesses that Barry could probably bring up, or Candy, or Errigo, or Paotie, and so on. It isn't lost on any of us, DonG. That's the biggest clue for you to take home with you.

Oh, about the Monopoly, since you brought it up again. Had it been real money you had the gall to suggest that money ought to belong to your kind of "organizations" instead of say, a faux pas organization like "Deafhood? No thanks." It was really none of your business to even suggest where money ought to go. Your complaining probably shed a few lights on the Deafhood organization as not getting any sizeable donations (or any at all for that matter... looks at DH Foundation recent donation meter). If DHF is able to rake in sizeable donations over time, kudos then! Yet I and others do agree with the philosophy. But that's not what I want to talk about here. You had the audacity to even try and claim this money as somehow it should've belonged to DHF instead. That was the wrong move.

If you're going to throw an "intellectual" jab at me like you did once earlier I'll simply point to readers this whole Monopoly affair again, too.

Now, I certainly do not go over to your blog and complain about lot of things, about you, about anything. Yet, you have here. Is there some sense of inadequacy you have got going or what that causes you to come over here?

Fact: We have major differences of opinions and philosophies. I'm comfortable in where I am and you're comfortable where you are at. If you want to disagree. Fine. I have no problem people disagreeing with me. But to put on a bravado display by calling me a coward and bully isn't going to work. It just makes it all the more petty. Despite our differences, you simply cannot let it go.

Mike said...

Valhallian,

I'll state it now. He should have full communication access granted to him without question wherever possible. This includes ASL interpeters at the very most, and not at the very least. His civil liberties should not be violated.

There is no need for me to blog about it since it is an inherent understanding that this be the case.

Anonymous 456,

I've done several interviews with a few of them as well. A three part series interview with Greg Gunderson. Done several interviews with Matt Hamill. One interview with Judy Vardon who was featured in a show "Extreme Home Makeover." Interviewed Steve Sandy on helping him induct "Dummy Hoy" into the baseball Hall of Fame. Blogged about Curtis Pride (pro baseball) Reece-Emerson van Beek (deaf professional cyclist). Phillip Morris (deaf semi-pro football player). Terrance Parkin, a professional swimmer. Ashley Fiolek. Jason Curry.

I've covered Keith Wann (CODA) and Kathy Buckley (deaf) as well known comedians.

So, yeah, I covered a lot in those areas over time. People conveniently forget the time and effort it takes to do those interviews and bring them to the mass.

I have no interest in focusing on just the Deaf community but rather the people of all deaf and hh communities regardless of hearing loss amount and whether they are Deaf or not. Mine covers from the informative to hard hitting to the more entertaining aspect of my outgoing adventures.

Thank you for your support and recognizing those blogs I've done.

I confess to a fair amount of empathy with Mike's viewpoint. The deaf community such as it is, has a very dated and limited view of what and who deaf people are and what constitutes a community, the kind of talk I read is related to a closed community of at least 30 years ago and pre-internet, pre-digital aids, and pre-implants.

The world has moved on, some deaf haven't. No single person can bring down a collective or community, unless it is so poorly supported it cannot survive with an alternative or differing view existing in it.

If the deaf 'community' cannot cope with diversity (And I know a few that simply cannot), then trying to suggest individuals are hell-bent on a cultural destruction is laughable.

Near everything Mike says is true, I know, I was forced out of many British areas of deaf because I shared them. Albeit he has the advantage on me, I don't sign as well ! We need people like Mike to blow away the damaging and singular views that would try to drag the deaf back to a past that simply will not relate to the present or the future.

Nice back-pedal on the "humor" thing you just claimed.

Remember, those who actually believed in my now "famous" quote of my intention are paranoid ones. Just check out my links connecting to those Deaf people who, laughingly so, thought I was up to "hurt" or "destroy" the Deaf community. Pointing them out is not being paranoid. Pointing them out are an example of them being paranoid.

Learn the difference anony.
