Jumping the "deaf hate crime" bandwagon

My video look at "deaf hate crime." Is it over-rated? Abused? Used as a weapon of choice? Or is this really nothing new under the sun?

'Hate' breeds more hate, that is an issue too. Everything that happens to deaf then is hatred based. In cultural areas the weapon of choice as you said, it already is happening, it will destroy any community and divide, again already happening. Don G e.g. always starts with "United we are strong, divided we will fail.." but has moved to areas where he is already divided, and lauds that division, instead of staying the course to promote unity. Carl Schroeder sees persecution of the deaf everywhere, RLM feels anyone that talks is probably an anti-deaf fascist. Any attempt you or any of us make to ignore the whole thing is itself labelled anti-deaf. We never used to have all this paranoia going on, when did it start ? when we discovered the internet ?

If someone thinks there is a Deaf Hate Crime and what if they were conditioned to believe that it exists? Some people believed that the boogieman was real and what is the point of arguing with this certain person about telling him/her that it is not real. It is like this, “If you argue with a fool then you are a big fool!”

I honestly don't think that Deaf Hate Crime is materialized. Someone is trying to make money out of it. Hate Crime is enough.

However, I do have a strong opinion supporting Deafhood.

For a change, I agree with you about the Hate Crime only. :)

Have a good one.

I have long believed, and hopefully practiced, that it is possible to state and debate your views without getting into any sort of personal attack on anybody else's views. It saddens me to see some deaf people rant about what they perceive to be other deaf people's failings, negative personality traits, or even suspected mental instability. What some of those people don't realize is that, by pointing the finger, they reveal much more about the inner workings of their own minds. I never respond to those people, and in fact, I don't watch or read their vlogs or blogs either. Steven Hardy said it perfectly: you cannot argue with a fool.

At your next Vlog, please take your hat off since I cannot see your eyes that are a significant part of ASL for understanding. thanks.

Anon,

I was facing the sun and needed my hat and sunglasses. I'm sure my message wasn't lost on anybody who watched my vlog.

Have you go to his Deaf Hate Crime workshop? Did you sit there and listen to his speech ? I am sure you did not. You don't have a room to discussion. Please reconsideration your opinion carefully.

Anon, I have not and have no desire to go. All one has to do is see one of his video that does not make any sense whatsoever when it comes to calling a certain action or issue as a "deaf hate crime." It simply goes beyond incredulity.

To anonymous #2:

Is that you Stevie12?

Do you really think it's "audistic" to wear sunglasses and hat? Crimminy! I was facing directly the sun! And you're worried about my facial expression? Please, lamest thing I ever heard. I've seen other people's vlogs or videos who signed with hardly any expression on their faces.

Stevie12, you're exactly why the reason for the continuing division of people within the deaf and hh communities. You made my point exactly! Use those words as a "weapon of choice." Because it gives you the false sense of power and security in using it. But it comes with a cost. It makes your Deaf community look vindictive, uncooperative, immature, and peurile.

If you want to discuss on the merits of my arguments in my videos, fine, please do so. It doesn't help no one to personally attack people just because you disagree. No wonder some of you guys can't get along. Get rid of that baggage first. And then perhaps you can discuss things a bit more intelligently.

Have a great one!
